I'd rather take a slightly smaller margin on the controller and keep my engineering team focused on the client's actual problem. If that makes me 'not a price buyer,' so be it. The spreadsheet is on my side.

I'm not saying you should ignore price differences. I'm saying compare the right price: the cost of the controller, plus the cost of a delay, plus the cost of a support call, plus the cost of a redo. There's something satisfying about a project that just works. After the chaos of a live event or an office opening, watching a Novastar-powered wall come up clean on the first try... that's the payoff. And it's why I'll keep budgeting for certainty, even when a cheaper quote is sitting right there in my inbox.
